A news website that's showing what's really happening in the world!
During the COVID-19 pandemic, a new online phenomenon emerged. Fake news and disinformation spread across the web as quickly as the virus itself. My group and I were tasked with creating a website containing engaging content for users. To make the content appealing, we first needed to identify topics that would be worth reading.
We thought: "Let's make a fake news website". And so we did.
TheTruth: Welcome to the truth. This website presents what is really happening in the world.
Corona? A plan to control us. Elections? Rigged. Our leaders? Puppets. We had a lot of fun brainstorming the content for the website. Surprisingly, it wasn’t difficult to come up with ideas. We only needed to look at posts on Facebook and Twitter, which was also a sobering experience, seeing that some people actually believed these things.
So what did we create?
We wrote several articles covering topics such as the coronavirus, elections, and world leaders.
We created an eye-catching logo to set the tone of the website.
We made a design that gives the impression that the website is a newspaper.
We designed a shop with different t-shirts you could buy to support the resistance.
In the end, our main focus was designing and writing a large amount of content. We acted as storytellers, creating our own narratives, and it was a highly enjoyable experience.
