Gemeente Amsterdam Library
An application for students to find their next favorite book.
For a project at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, I designed a user interface to help students search for books in the online library of the Gemeente Amsterdam. It was intended for an Ipad screen where students could navigate the applications using touch.
I first started by creating a style guide document with the branding of the Gemeente Amsterdam. I researched the colors, fonts, and other brand-defining features and gave it also my own twist.
When I got the branding right I started with designing the screens. I made multiple revisions through the weeks so that the design would become better and better every time. Showing all the revisions would make this page way to long so I rather want to show you the end result.
I made a home screen welcoming the student and giving them instructions to start searching for a book. (content written in Dutch)
After the student searches for a book he gets to a results screen which shows all kinds of different books based on his search. The student already sees some information about the books like for example a title, description, if it's in stock, and so on.
If the student clicks on a book he or she will get to a detailed page about the book.
The student can put the book on his wishlist by tapping on the heart icon. To access the wishlist the student clicks on the wishlist option in the navigation.
I also designed multiple states in the applications if for example the user got stuck or if the application is searching for a book.
In the end, I designed a clean and simple user interface with the branding of the client and I also made a prototype that is interactive.
