For a project at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, I designed a user interface to help students search for books in the online library of the Gemeente Amsterdam. The interface was intended for an iPad, allowing students to navigate the application using touch.

I began by creating a style guide that reflected the branding of the Gemeente Amsterdam. I researched the official colors, fonts, and other brand elements, while also adding my own creative touch.

Once the branding was established, I began designing the screens. I went through multiple revisions over the weeks, refining the design with each iteration. To keep this page concise, I will focus on presenting the final result rather than all the revisions.

I designed a home screen that welcomes the student and provides instructions for starting a book search. The content is written in Dutch.

After the student searches for a book, they are taken to a results screen displaying a variety of books based on their query. Each book includes key information such as the title, a brief description, availability, and other relevant details.

When the student clicks on a book, they are taken to a detailed page providing more in-depth information about that book.

The student can add a book to their wishlist by tapping the heart icon. To view their wishlist, they can select the wishlist option in the navigation menu.

I also designed multiple application states to handle situations such as when the user gets stuck or when the app is searching for a book.

In the end, I created a clean and simple user interface that reflected the client’s branding, and I developed an interactive prototype to demonstrate its functionality.
